Tutorial: The Princess and the Frog

Hello everybody! :)

A lot of people have asked me to do a tutorial on my look inspired by Disney's "The Princess and the Frog".

Here's the original picture of the look:

The original blogpost on this look and a full list of products can be found here:

I made this look a while ago before I had decided not to use the "mega-palettes" anymore (reason: http://madamnoire.blogspot.com/2012/02/about-mega-palettes.html) so I'll just list some dupes for you instead of recommending these palettes. :) But, by all means, feel free to use the "mega-palettes" if you'd like! I won't come haunting you or anything. :P

So here comes the much anticipated tutorial ;)

Step 1
Apply your base (that is foundation, concealer, powder and that stuff) and prime your eyes. I'm using e.l.f. eyelid primer in "Sheer".

Step 2
Here I've used a big creasebrush (think M.A.C. #224) to sweep a mixture of the two orangey-red colors from the 88-palette in my crease. Instead of these colors you could use for instance "Coral" or "Rule" by M.A.C. Any orangey-reddish-brown color will do! You can also go the easy way and apply a brown color with a little bit more orangey tone to it, which will allow you to skip the next step. ;) Such a color would be for instance "Cocoa Bear" or "Country girl" by Makeupgeek. I haven't tried those out yet though, simply looked at the swatches.

Step 3
OMG! What happend?! No, I'm just kidding! ;) We're on the right track! Put on some chocolate brown eyeshadow in the crease, on top of the orangey-red. Now we'll really have to blend! If you have a teracotta or orangey-brown color in step 2 you can skip this step. I just didn't find the color I wanted among my eyeshadows so that's why I make all this trouble to mix them.

Step 4
This is how it looks when we've blended the mess from step 3! ;) To help blending you can use an eyeshadow that is similar to your skin tone. For me that is "Blanc Type" by M.A.C. Make sure to keep the shape of the eyeshadow rounded though!

Step 5
With a pencil brush, apply some black in the deep crease.

Step 6
Also apply the black underneath your lower lashline. Wipe off your blending brush and blend the black out!
Step 7
Apply NYX Jumbo Pencil in "Milk" on your lid, inner corner, and under your eyebrow. Blendy blend!

Step 8
With a M.A.C. #239 brush (or similar) pop on some light blue color. I've tried to find alternatives to the "mega-palettes" and "Cool blue" by NYX or "Sky blue" by M.A.C. seems to be just what we're looking for. :)

In the inner corner and beneath your brow, apply a matte white as a highlight. I've used "Gesso" by M.A.C.

Step 9
Line your upper and lower waterline with a soft black eyeliner pencil. I've used Isadora Inliner in "Indian Ink". Also run the pencil along your upper lashline, keeping really close to your lashes. Smudge it out with a small brush!

Step 10
Fill in your brows with a color that matches your natural brow color. I've also set my brows with some clear mascara from e.l.f.
Pop on some mascara and a pair of false eyelashes if you want. I've used Ardell #110, since I wanted to keep the look pretty natural.

And here's a full face shot:

Thank you for visiting my blog and hope to see you soon! Have a nice day! :)
